UPDATE Walgreens "Shea Moisture" AND "Twisted Sista" BOGO

I'm late with this, but I want to give a special thanks to my YouTube AND Twitter natural ladies for this heads up!

(SIDEBAR- I think we should all go out and purchase the Shea Moisture products (or any product marketed towards multi ethnic hair), just show that there is a demand for this product(s). ("Suppy and Demand", an economic concept.....get it?!?) For some reason, deep down I feel this is a marketing test as to see whether or not Walgreen's should continue carrying these products. If we wipe them clean THIS TIME, these products will continue to be in stock for the future. Just a  suggestion!)

I believe this sale ends ends April 2nd, so I'm going tomorrow!!

So, I ran to Walgreen's (my local Walgreen's closes at 11pm, and I made it there at 10:44pm), and this what I ended up getting......

I'm lucky I purchased what I did, because look what was LEFT.............

I was pleasantly surprised; I thought it would be overflowing because I live in a "non- ethnic" neighborhood!!

UPDATE - While I was there I noticed another BOGO event....TWISTED SISTA was get two products for $7!! We have until April 30th before this coupon expires, but I was surprised I hadn't heard this AWESOME deal. Next week, I'm ON IT!!!!!

Feathers For Spring!!

SPRING IS HERE (however I don't think Los Angeles go the memo yet!!)

What inspired me to do these was not only the brilliant colors, but something similar I saw about 3 years ago. Now this was WAY before the THOUGHT of "making" earrings entered my brain pan, but about 3, maybe even 4 years ago I was walking around the mall one day (The Glendale Galleria, specifically) and I wandered across this odd furniture store. Well, half was furniture, and the other half was art (paintings, figurines, exotic plants, etc). In this little tiny corner was this display of dyed peacock feather earrings. Now, at the time, I've never even SEEN a dyed peacock feather, let alone the thought of dyeing a peacock feather was ACTUALLY possible! I've never seen anything like them! They were lime green in color, fabulous and awesome, so I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE THEM! I asked the sales lady the price, and she said something like $75!!! She said they were hand made by a local jewelry maker and from an albino peacock (OK, whatever), but I declined, but I told myself I would get them one day. Three (maybe even 4) years later, I did get my peacock earrings, but I ended up making them myself, along with every color of the rainbow!!!!

PS- Display purchased from UniqueDisplays09 (via ETSY)

SO,TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, As I mentioned before I LOVE peacock feathers, and I've been playing around with them for some time now, and I wanted to show you a "sneak peak" of what I will be adding to my ETSY! I will be adding these on April 1st, so keep a lookout!

March SPRING Equinox 2011

My mom told me about this about a week ago and I thought I'd share. THIS is the time to make your 2011 resolutions, not the more common "New Years Day".........

"We experience the vernal equinox on Sunday, March 20, 2011. The equinox means balance between light and dark, with approximately 12 hours of sunlight and 12 hours of darkness. The phrase “on earth as it is in heaven” is significant at this time because the Spring equinox combined with the full moon may stir up the internal need for balance within you. The suppressed shadow side may express itself in a variety of ways, as your inner world is begging for balance."

"This is a powerful and sacred time for you to identify the intentions you truly desire to manifest in your physical life on Earth, and on your spiritual ascension path. Let go of self imposed limitations, doubts and fears, and allow yourself to imagine being truly connected to your true power, light, and ability to create blessings, joy and love in your life. What have you wanted in life and not believed to be possible or dared to go after? Now is the time to look within and to remember your authentic desires…and then to plant new seeds and ideas about what is possible for you in this life."
"My personal feeling is that we love the rites of spring because they awaken some deep internal impulses akin to being roused from winter hibernation. We stretch and yawn, and groggily stumble out of our winter dens to sniff at the slightest hint of growth and re-birth that wafts through the air. Something primeval comes alive inside us."

Mixed Chicks Knock Off???

Just at first glance, doesn't this look like a STRAIGHT JACK from the Mixed Chick packaging???

"Mixed Silk" by Silk Elements Deep Conditioner VS Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner

"Mixed Silk" by Silk Elements Leave-In Conditioner VS Mixed Chicks Leave-In Conditioner
Out of the four products, I've only used the "Mixed Chicks Leave-In", back when I was a curly newbie in 2008, and I still think it an OK product (its a great travel product as well!), but I saw these two (Mixed Silk) products at Sally's beauty supply, and I wanted to do a little research before I bought and tested them. They are WAAAAAYYY cheaper than Mixed Chicks, I can tell you that much!!

PS- In case you missed this, one of my first YouTube Videos.........

(DON'T LAUGH....I was all kindza nervous; I was still new to the YT!!!)

Healthy meal????

I've been eating this ALL WEEK LONG!! I mixed this all up (side bar- the BBQ chicken came with two packets of sauce, and I only used one OKAAAY!) in a huge Tupperware, and when ever I was hungry I just heated up about a cup size. If I was still hungry, I ate another cup. This was my attempt at eating healthy, but I've been informed (by a certain know-it-all, who shall remain nameless) that this isn't healthy at all........whatever; its healthy for me! What do y'all think??

My "Peacock Feather" obsession!

I'm always asked, "whats up with your peacock theme", and to honest....I really don't have an answer, I just think peacock feathers are the most beautiful feathers I've ever seen!! The new trend (well.....new to me!) is bleaching a peacock feather, then DYEING it different shades of all one color. SO NOW, I'm even more obsessed, and i am in the process of making peacock feather earrings. I've always purchased peacock earrings for myself, but now...looking at them, they seem low quality and crappy. SO in conclusion, this is what has been occupying my free time for the last few days! Take a look at my "peacock feather" collection!

***Peacock feathers represent pride, and by extension, nobility and glory. Peacock feathers also are a symbol of good luck and well-being throughout Asia and most of the world. Peacocks are also known to eat poisonous plants with no ill effects, making their feathers a symbol of incorruptibility and immortality.***

On my wall.....

A fan (that you may have seen in my YT videos....)

In my hallway.....

My "traditional" peacock earrings.....

TRIMMED peacock feathers for future earrings......

Some new feathers I havent trimmed yet.....

My "Peacock Feather " tattoo!! (JK, totally not me, but I will have a tattoo SIMILAR oneday....)
